Description
Please note that this course is taking place in Cork City, and not in the Victorious School in Dublin.
Details:
The Victorious School of Screen & Stage Combat is one of Ireland’s leading schools offering industry-standard combat training and qualifications for actors, actor-combatants, and fight performers for both screen & stage. Through Victorious, students can complete a series of stage combat qualification courses, certified by the Irish Dramatic Combat Academy (IDCA). The IDCA is Ireland’s primary awarding body for stage and screen combat qualifications, with 8 Europe-wide recognised stage combat certifications currently available.
This 1-week intensive Unarmed Stage Combat course involves 30 hours of compulsory guided training with an IDCA-qualified instructor. The course covers a detailed collection of core unarmed fighting techniques and safety practices required to perform realistic and safe unarmed combat choreography. The course focuses on key elements of combat performance including fight rhythm, staging, intention, and reaction, as well as character development and motivation.
Participants also learn how to effectively incorporate unarmed choreography into dramatic scenes for stage or screen. Over the week, participants are taught a detailed fight routine, which is rehearsed and incorporated into a scene of their choice. The course finishes with a certified exam, in which this reheasrsed fight scene will be performed for an external IDCA examiner.
This course is suitable for complete beginners, as well as anyone looking to refresh or improve their unarmed stage combat skills.
