Details: The IDCA Rapier & Dagger course is a 10-week, part-time course suitable for anyone who has completed the IDCA Unarmed Stage Combat course. This course builds upon the skills and safety practices learned during the Unarmed Stage Combat course and introduces a range of new techniques for armed stage combat.
Participants will learn basic sword work, foot work, and fighting skills for realistic and safe armed combat choreography. The course also continues to focus on key performance skills including fight rhythm, staging, intention, and reaction, as well as character development and motivation. The course will also cover how to effectively incorporate Rapier & Dagger choreography into dramatic scenes for stage or screen.
The course includes 30 hours of guided training over 10 weeks, during which participants will learn a detailed Rapier & Dagger routine which will be incorporated into a scene of their choice. The course finishes with a certified exam in which this scene is performed for an external IDCA examiner.
